CTM 2018 – Turmoil
MusicMakers Hacklab – The Hacked Mind

Tuesday 30 January 2018 | Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin
Hosted by Peter Kirn (CDM) and Ioann Maria.

What is the role of artists and producers in shaping the future of artificial intelligence in the world? Creative director and curator Estela Oliva joined this year’s Hacklab Inputs programme to talk about this and other creative interventions in machine learning. The 2018 Hacklab mounted a response to artificial intelligence and data culture.

Estella's session explored some of the common questions and challenges posed by practitioners working in machine learning and related practices. It offered a deep dive into a selection of innovative artistic projects, which are offering alternative ways to view and interpret human beings and the world around us. The session concluded by reflecting and debating on the responsibility of and the implications for those involved in the making of these technologies.

The CTM MusicMakers Hacklab is a weeklong open, collaborative laboratory hosted by Peter Kirn of Create Digital Music. Now entering its 6th edition within the CTM Festival, the 2018 Hacklab brought on co-host Ioann Maria to reflect on the promise and danger of artificial intelligence and machine learning in music under “The Hacked Mind” theme. Four Input talks were programmed during the Hacklab week, to give Hacklab fellows and interested audiences a few possible points of entry into in theme. Fellows worked on new musical ideas and inventions all week, presenting their work at the Hacklab Finale on CTM 2018’s closing Sunday.

The CTM 2018 MusicMakers Hacklab was presented with Native Instruments and SHAPE, which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. CTM 2018 was funded by Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa Berlin, Kulturstiftung des Bundes and Initiative Musik gGmbH.

If you need to be told what these posts mean, please find an alternative channel (of which there are many).
It is not possible for me, or anyone else for that matter, to correctly interpret what Q is trying to convey (until after the planned event has happened and been exposed). We can GUESS a meaning, but only time will tell. If our guesses are right Don’t be fooled by the so-called experts…..they know nothing more than you or I.
Know only that the overall message is one of HOPE!
